In Germany, adoption rates continue to decline, and this concerning trend seems likely to persist. In 2025, only 3,517 children were placed with new families, which represents a four percent decrease compared to the previous year.
Concerns About the Future
Of the total adopted children, only 56 were internationally adopted. This figure not only reflects the challenges within the German adoption system but also indicates deeper social and cultural changes. Given this declining trend, numerous questions arise regarding the future of orphaned children and the government's social and support policies.
