Steven Spielberg, an Oscar-winning director and one of the greatest filmmakers in cinema history, has recently admitted that he has never been able to direct a film from the James Bond series. This is despite Spielberg being recognized as one of the most important and influential figures in cinema.
Why Did Spielberg Stay Away from Bond?
This director acknowledged in the podcast "The Rest Is Entertainment" that since his youth, he has dreamed of making a James Bond film and even directly contacted "Albert R. Broccoli," the producer of the series, in 1975. However, instead of welcoming his idea, he faced a closed door. He stated in this conversation: "I have always dreamed of making a James Bond film, especially after seeing 'Dr. No'."
It seems that his efforts to enter this glamorous world not only yielded no results but have now turned into a delightful joke for him. Spielberg clearly shows that although these rejections were difficult, he can now look back on them with a smile.
