In a session held today in the German parliament, Thomas S. (Schweitzer), a representative of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), strongly criticized Olaf Merz’s linguistic disorder and said: "His sentences sound like the voice of a military camp."
Criticism of the Military Tone
Schweitzer added that this kind of expression, especially during politically sensitive times, can reinforce a sense of aggression and lack of transparency among citizens. He also noted that Merz should, instead of using harsh terminology, adopt a constructive and people‑friendly discourse.
While Merz has not yet provided an official response to these accusations, the remark prompted some other representatives to also discuss the political tone and its impact on the public sphere.
