Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, was once again targeted by a Russian missile attack with several powerful explosions occurring at midnight. This attack took place while Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, was negotiating with NATO officials in Turkey for military assistance.
Fire and Destruction in the Streets
The explosions resonated in two different areas of the city and immediately caused widespread fires. The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, reported several fires and announced that a state of emergency is in effect in these areas. Additionally, rescuers reported that two people were injured in this attack.
The airstrikes on Kyiv were not limited to this city. According to officials, the city of Kharkiv was also targeted similarly, where several missiles landed and caused damage to buildings. These attacks occur while Ukraine has been fighting against Russian aggression with Western support for over four years.
On the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, Zelensky is seeking to increase the delivery of Patriot missiles to Ukraine to respond more effectively to Russian missile attacks. In fact, this is the third time Kyiv has been targeted by Russian missile attacks in the past week, and concerns about the intensification of these attacks are growing.
