Since April of this year, the German judiciary has undergone changes. Citizens of this country can now file financial claims up to €10,000 completely digitally in selected courts. But will this transformation really help alleviate the pressure on the judicial system?
Challenges and Expectations
Despite this initiative, many lawyers and legal experts view this change with skepticism. They believe that while digitizing lawsuits can help facilitate processes, there are other problems and challenges that continue to weigh heavily on the judicial system. From complex litigation procedures to a lack of public awareness about using this new system, all of these factors can hinder the optimal use of this new method.
Moreover, with the increase in the number of lawsuits filed online, the question arises whether the judicial system truly has the capacity to manage this volume of cases. Many judicial bodies still face issues such as a lack of human and financial resources, which can negatively impact the quality of services provided.
Ultimately, can this transformation genuinely benefit citizens, or is it merely a superficial change? Time will tell whether Germany is on the path to improving its judicial system or not.
