Traveling for Germans has always been associated with a specific pattern: several weeks of vacation in luxury hotels in destinations like Spain, Turkey, and Egypt. However, it seems that this trend has changed this year.
Change in Summer Travels
According to new analyses, German summer travels in 2026 have experienced remarkable changes. Travel to closer destinations and planning for shorter trips is on the rise. For example, in May of next year, nearly half of the trips will not exceed four days, especially considering the spring holidays that provide an opportunity for short trips.
These changes not only relate to the selection of new destinations but also the methods of travel have transformed. Germans are now more inclined towards independent and personalized travel rather than pre-planned trips.
