In a bitter and alarming reality, addiction to digital media is rapidly increasing among children. According to recent reports, one in four children exhibits one of the risky behaviors in media use, and this issue is increasingly observed at younger ages. As a result, children as young as eight years old are seeking treatment at addiction centers.

Why and How?

This troubling trend may be due to increased access to the internet and smart devices. Concerned parents can help their children by following the "Five Finger Rule"; a guideline that teaches them how to use digital media in a reasonable and healthy manner. This rule assists parents in teaching their children how to manage their device usage time and prevent potential harms.

While this reality seems extremely concerning, can we hope that with greater awareness and proper education, parents and children can navigate through this crisis? This is a question that needs an answer.
