The European Parliament will discuss the status of the German far-right party family, known as ESN (Europe Proud Nations), on Tuesday. The voting on this matter will begin at 12:00.
Why has this investigation started?
This request has been made by representatives from several different parliamentary groups, and its aim is to assess whether ESN adheres to the values outlined in the European Union agreements. This request could lead to the loss of funding for this party family for electoral activities and conferences.
In a report sent to the Parliament in May by the relevant regulatory body for European parties, it was claimed that ESN has seriously raised doubts about its adherence to the values of the European Union, particularly regarding the support for minorities. It is noteworthy that this investigation only pertains to the ESN party family and does not relate to its namesake group in the European Parliament.
Currently, the level of financial support from the European Union for the ESN party family amounts to nearly two million euros per year. This situation has attracted significant attention and could have serious implications for the activities of this group.
