As the warm days of summer approach and occasional rainfall occurs, conditions for the emergence of flies in Germany have been created. In fact, these conditions are so ideal that one could say the flies are loudly saying "Hooray." A fly expert from the Agricultural Research Center in Brandenburg has pointed out that in the coming days, houseflies will be searching for water and moist environments to lay their eggs.

Asian Threats: Aggressive Flies

Meanwhile, the Asian fly known as the "Tiger" is recognized as a real nuisance for gardeners. This species not only seeks water but can easily lay eggs in the smallest amount of standing water. Even a spoonful of water under a pot can be enough for these flies. These flies can seriously overshadow garden parties and turn joy into trouble.

While houseflies start laying eggs in mid-May, the Asian fly will rapidly increase its population during the summer. According to experts, the peak population of these flies will be at the end of August, and gardeners should prepare themselves for a summer full of annoyance.

Health Threats and Prevention

In addition to being a nuisance, tiger flies can carry dangerous diseases such as dengue and chikungunya viruses. Although no cases of transmission of these diseases have been reported in Germany so far, experts believe it is only a matter of time. To reduce the fly population, several simple measures can be taken: covering water containers with nets, changing water in bird baths every three days, and emptying pots in cemeteries to prevent rainwater accumulation are recommended.

These changes may help gardeners avoid the torment of flies in the summer and transform the garden space into a pleasant environment.
