In a controversial revelation, the CEO of Rheinmetall has referred to statements made by Angela Merkel, the former Chancellor of Germany, which seem to indicate a disdain for national industries. He claimed that Merkel, over the past years, has marginalized German companies by ignoring them, stating: "If a problem arises, we call the Americans."
Neglect of Domestic Industries
These statements point to deeper rifts in the relationship between the government and German industries. The CEO of Rheinmetall, a company involved in military equipment production, cited it as an example of companies that were moved to a "Schmuddelige" (place of disrespect) during Merkel's tenure. According to him, this neglect of domestic industries could have serious consequences for Germany's security and economy.
These remarks not only reflect the concerns of industrial leaders but may also spark a wave of new criticisms against Merkel. Merkel's response to these allegations has not yet been published, and it remains to be seen whether she will address these accusations or not.
