The conference of the "Germany for the Future" (AfD) party is being held in Erfurt with the participation of around 600 members of the party. The Thuringia state police have come out after months of preparation to ensure the security of this event and also to protect the right to peaceful protests.
Widespread Presence of Police Forces
From Friday to Sunday, several thousand police forces from across Germany will be stationed around the conference venue and in the central streets of Erfurt. Police officials have emphasized that their main goal is to ensure security and public order, as well as to support fundamental freedoms such as the right to assemble and freedom of the press.
The police have also announced that they will actively and transparently report the situation over these three days through their social media channels. According to officials, these forces are prepared to maintain calm and prevent any form of violence or unreasonable restrictions on public rights.
Expectations from the Conference and Protests
The conference is taking place while it is expected that the party leadership, including Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla, will be re-elected to their positions. At the same time, multiple protests against this conference are expected, especially from political critics and various social groups.
