In a controversial move, the Hesse Ministry of Agriculture has recently introduced a program called "Wolf Management" aimed at controlling the wolf population and especially allowing the hunting of young individuals of this species. This program has immediately faced harsh reactions and severe criticism from environmental organizations such as BUND and NABU.
Criticism and Consequences of the Program
Environmental organizations consider this action not only inhumane but also a serious threat to the ecosystem and biodiversity of the region. They believe that such actions could lead to the extinction of this endangered species and negatively impact the natural food chain.
This program is being introduced at a time when concerns about the status of wolves and their interactions with local communities remain high.
