As the world moves towards a new crisis in food security, the Executive Director of the World Food Programme warns that the number of people struggling with hunger is rapidly increasing. The situation in areas affected by wars and humanitarian crises is particularly concerning.
Consequences of Wars and Humanitarian Crises
Carl Skau, the Executive Director of this program, pointed out the impacts of wars and natural disasters on food security, emphasizing that the number of hungry people in the world is increasing rapidly. According to him, this issue is especially pronounced in areas engaged in conflict, and the situation is expected to worsen significantly.
In this context, Skau referred to the numerous challenges humanitarian organizations face in providing aid. He stated that working conditions in these areas are very difficult and there are many obstacles to delivering assistance. Humanitarian crises and wars not only lead to reduced access to food but also exacerbate the economic situation of these countries.
