Life in the Shadow of the Holocaust

Esther was born in 1924 in Germany and, as a Jew, her childhood and adolescence were profoundly affected by the Nazis. Due to her musical talents, she joined the Auschwitz prisoner orchestra, which provided her with an opportunity to survive amidst the inhumane conditions of that time. Beharano not only survived but also became known as a human rights activist and a spokesperson for the memory of Holocaust victims.
