On hot summer days, nothing is as enjoyable as a cool and delicious iced latte. But have you ever wondered why your homemade iced latte doesn't taste as good as the café version? The main reason for this issue lies in the method you use to prepare it.

The Secret to Real Iced Latte Flavor

Many of us pour hot coffee over ice to make an iced latte and expect it to taste similar to those from cafés. However, the reality is that this method dilutes our drink. The melting ice affects the aroma and flavor of the coffee, and the final result is often unsatisfactory.

Instead of this inappropriate method, it is recommended to use cold brew. In this method, coffee is brewed with cold water, which helps preserve the true aroma and flavor of the coffee while reducing its bitterness and acidity. To make cold brew, simply combine equal parts coffee and cold water and let this mixture sit in the refrigerator for several hours or even overnight.

How to Make a Homemade Iced Latte

To prepare a delicious iced latte, follow these steps:

  • Combine 50 grams of ground coffee with 500 milliliters of cold water.
  • Let this mixture sit in the refrigerator for 12 hours.
  • Then, using a filter or French press, separate the coffee from the grounds.
  • For each glass of iced latte, combine 30 milliliters of cold brew, 150 milliliters of milk, and 5 ice cubes in a glass.

The interesting thing is that you can use the leftover cold brew to make special ice cubes. These ice cubes enhance the coffee flavor instead of diluting the drink, making the enjoyment of sipping even greater. Therefore, you can easily prepare an iced latte at home with café-quality!
