On Thursday evening, a fire on a vessel on Highway A49 in the Kassel district drew attention. The incident occurred just before Baunatal-South, resulting in a partial blockage of the highway.
Rescue of the Driver and Financial Damages
The driver of the vessel was able to separate the tractor from the cargo and escape the incident, although he sustained minor injuries. After about two hours of effort, the fire department finally managed to bring the fire under control, during which time the highway was blocked in both directions.
Currently, the right side of the highway towards Marburg remains closed for the vessel rescue operation, and the reopening time is uncertain. According to estimates, the cause of the fire was likely a technical defect, resulting in damages amounting to several tens of thousands of euros.
