Last night, Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, was once again targeted by Russian missile and drone attacks, resulting in at least 22 fatalities. These attacks took place just one day before the NATO summit in Ankara, escalating tensions in the region.

Details of the Attack and Consequences

According to local officials, during these attacks, 15 people were killed in the city of Kyiv and 7 in its suburb, Vyshneve. Additionally, around 60 others were injured. Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported the activation of air defense systems and it is said that 30 residential buildings were damaged in these attacks.

Reports indicate that the Ukrainian army engaged with 326 drones and 37 missiles to counter these attacks. However, Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, stated that his forces do not have enough interceptor missiles to deal with Russian ballistic missiles.

The Russian Ministry of Defense described these attacks as a "heavy assault" and claimed that their targets were military and industrial facilities in several regions of Ukraine. This is the second large-scale attack by Russia on Kyiv in recent days, and Zelensky has urged his allies to make "decisive decisions" to support Ukraine at the NATO summit in Ankara.

The recent attacks come amid heightened concerns over escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with increasing pressure on Western countries to provide more support to Ukraine. Meanwhile, the European Union has emphasized the need for increased air support for Ukraine and called for heightened pressure on Russia to end this bloodshed.
