In a historic event, a time capsule weighing 408 kilograms has been buried three meters deep next to Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The purpose of this action is to preserve a keepsake for future generations and to open it in 2276, in celebration of the 500th anniversary of the United States.
Why a Time Capsule?
This capsule is being buried at a time when humans have repeatedly sought to record important moments and pass them on to future generations. From images and writings to everyday objects, each tells a story of the past in its own way. Now we must see whether future generations will truly pay attention to the contents of this capsule or not!
This initiative, in addition to being a symbol of historiography, reflects humanity's desire to connect with the future and preserve cultural identity. We must wait and see what perception of this capsule and its contents will form in the minds of people in the second half of the 23rd century.
