A serious crisis is forming in the state of Bavaria; where most public pools are in dire need of repairs and under these conditions, the likelihood of their closure in the near future exists. Given the high costs of repairs and insufficient funding through ticket revenues, the situation is extremely concerning.
Why has this problem arisen?
While pools are recognized as recreational and social centers in the community, a lack of adequate investment in recent years has led these places towards destruction. Repair costs are very high, and according to experts, the revenue from ticket sales is in no way able to cover these expenses.
If this trend continues, not only will many pools be permanently closed, but families will also face serious problems accessing recreational facilities. This situation could have negative impacts on public health and the quality of life of residents.
